There are many athletes who strive to beat record times in track and field events, swimming or race car driving. But, did you know there’s also a community that devotes their time and effort to beating video games as fast as humanly possible?
And the results of their rocket-jumping, side-straffing efforts are a blast to watch.
As a part of the Awesome Games Done Quick Marathon for 2015, video game speed-runner “ysalamiri” blasted through the 1997 classic Star Wars Jedi Knight – Dark Forces II. The event, which takes place January 4-10 at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel, sees some of the best gamers across the country gather for a little fellowship, fun and for a good cause. Proceeds collected through online pledging during the week-long event will benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
