Marvel Studios’ Phase 2 campaign is upon us. Its march towards The Avengers 2 (and the inevitable on-screen battle against the evil Thanos) begins this May with Iron Man 3, a film which introduces the world to one of Tony Stark’s greatest foes — The Mandarin.
Today, we saw the first teaser for their second offering in their ongoing film series — Thor: The Dark World, a movie which will pit the Thunder God against a long-lost enemy of both Asgard and Earth.
Check out the amazing trailer here:
Until recently, Thor was a character that many relegated to a second or third tier on Marvel’s superhero packing order. That is not the case anymore, considering the star power that has breathed life into this now highly anticipated movie franchise. With Oscar-caliber actors like Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins and Rene Russo returning — along with series newcomers Christopher Eccleston, Zachary Levi and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, — it looks as though as the Odinson has gained some notoriety in Hollywood and emerged as a viable motion picture commodity on par with Spider-Man, the X-Men and Iron Man. And rightly so, considering Chris Hemsworth deserves some recognition for the amazing job he does playing Thor with an immense god-like presence and just enough compassionate vulnerability to make him as close to human as an Asgardian can get.
Thor: The Dark World hits theaters later this year on November 8th, 2013.
